Woodward supers talk utility truck

LOCKPORT -- It was strictly business at this month's Woodward Township meeting.

After months of contentious meetings regarding the reinstatement of the municipal sewer authority and debacles over a fire truck purchase, it was smooth sailing at the township's monthly supervisor meeting on Tuesday.

The supervisors had no correspondence or new business to vote on during the meeting, only several final decisions to be made from old business agenda items.

Among the old business discussed was the township's old International vehicle. At last month's meeting, the supervisors decided to replace it with a F-600 utility truck, which is allegedly larger and more durable when compared to their current truck.

The supervisors decided to use American Rescue Plan Act funding, as well as pulling from other funds, to purchase the new truck during February's meeting.

The sale of the truck was not finalized at this month's meeting, however. The supervisors are still choosing between two outlets -- either a utility auto sale which is held every third Thursday each month, according to supervisor Kyle Coleman, or through Municibid.com, an online auction market for vehicles and utility equipment for state government entities.

"If anything we could try Municibid," Coleman said.

Chairman Wayne Love concurred, deciding to put the truck on Municibid, and if the township does not get what they want out of it, then they would take it to the utility auto sale.

Although the pieces were falling into place with how the truck was going to be sold, secretary Jackie Bartlett questioned if the supervisors would need to be a member of Municibid in order to sell anything. She followed up that she had heard of a $3,900 registration fee in order to sell.

Love said he thought the fee was only $25.

Due to the possible steep price of registration, the supervisors chose to get more information regarding Municibid's fee before they decide what route to go with the sale of the old truck.

The agenda item was tabled until next month's meeting.
