BELLEFONTE -- Centre County's COVID-19 testing center will continue to operate at its current location through the April 28. After that, it will be changing locations, Centre County administrator Margaret Gray announced during Tuesday's Centre County Board of Commissioners' meeting.
"The COVID-19 testing site is still open … it has been extended through April 28 at the recycling location," Gray announced. "We will be looking for a new location after April 28. The intention of the Department of Health is to keep this resource here and available in Centre County, which is great news for our residents."
The testing site is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
Centre County Government has enjoyed a successful partnership with AMI Expenditionary Healthcare. There have been several locations, including the former Bon-Ton department store at the Nittany Mall, the former Sears Automotive building and the former Comcast Building, across from the Nittany Mall.
There are no age limits for testing. Testing is free, but an ID is required.
According to the Centre County Government website, individuals with insurance will be asked to provide an insurance card; however, no co-pay or any other cost is charged to the individual. Uninsured individuals will also be tested without cost to the person.
Anyone needing to be tested may access the site, regardless of residency.
The testing site will be closed today (April 13) and again on Friday, April 22.
In other business Tuesday, the commissioners:
-- Issued Proclamation No. 9 of 2022, proclaiming April 10-16 as Conversation District Week in Centre County.
-- Issued Proclamation No. 10 of 2022, proclaiming April 10-16 as 911 Dispatchers Week in Centre County.
-- Added Resolution No. 5 of 2022 to next week's Consent Agenda as presented expressing the County's intent to issue general obligation bonds to finance certain projects as described in the Resolution, declaring the County's official intent to reimburse certain expenditures, and authorizing and directing the County's financing team to proceed with action in preparation and furtherance of the issuance of such debt.
-- Approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Centre Safe in support of an application to the Office of Violence Against Women to provide Transitional Housing Assistance for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking.
-- Approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the final land development plan for Paul B. and Linda S. Fisher Manufacturing Facility located in Penn Township; CCPCDO File No. 33-22. This proposal constitutes a final plan submission showing the development of a single building being 11,760 square feet to be used retail/light manufacturing of roofing material along with corresponding infrastructure. This proposal is located along the northern right-of-way of Tattletown Road (state Route 2016) approximately one-half mile from its intersection with West Aaron Square (state Route 45).
-- Approved an Intergovernmental Service Agreement with the Susquehanna Regional Transportation Authority to provide contracted services upon request for shared ride trips. The contract is for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.
The Centre County Board of Commissioners will meet again at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, at the Willowbank Building in Bellefonte. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed live by C-NET.
