Four seniors graduate from Walnut Street Christian School

AVIS -- Four seniors had the honor of receiving their diplomas from the Walnut Street Christian School.
The school that teaches grades one through through twelve held its graduation on Friday, May 27.
The graduating seniors included Jacob Borowicz, Haley Mumma, salutatorian Jaralyn Croak and valedictorian Leah Campbell.
The principal of Walnut Street, Tom Krick, announced each of the seniors and congratulated them on their efforts through their years at the school. He presented the students, each giving a speech sharing their sentiments and memories of their time at Walnut Street.
"A unique opportunity we have here at Walnut Street and largely due to the fact we don't have a graduating class of 57 or 140 or anything like that, is we have the opportunity to hear from each of our seniors… they have the opportunity to share and we have the opportunity to listen to what they have to share," Krick said.
The first student to speak was Borowicz, who attended the school for 12 years. His plan after graduation is to grow his business in the landscaping industry.
"I tell everyone that Walnut Street isn't a school, it's a family. I think that knowing that is very important in the legacy and the impact that Walnut Street has had on me," he said during his speech.
Mumma, who attended the school for 14 years, spoke next. She plans to attend Penn State's DuBois Campus to study Wildlife Technology.
"I would not be here tonight or be up here standing without the caring, loving, extraordinary people in my life who have taken their time influence me in such a positive way and to help me grow, wisdom and become close to Christ … I couldn't ask for more godly, supportive and more caring teachers than those here at Walnut Street who have touched my life," she said in her speech.
The third student to speak was salutatorian Croak, who attended the school for 13 years. She plans to attend the Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh.
"I will never forget the godly lessons I have learned throughout the years… Although it hasn't always been easy, I am extremely grateful for all the opportunities, memories and experiences I've had at Walnut Street. I am looking forward to taking those experiences and lessons and applying them to my future," she said in her speech.
Finally, the valedictorian of Walnut Street Christian School's class of 2022, Campbell was the last to speak. She had attended the school for 12 years. Her plans are to attend Waynesburg University to pursue nursing.
"You know you're at Walnut Street when there is an amazing group of teachers and faculty who sacrifice so much of their time and effort to teach and prepare students for their future… You know you're at Walnut Street when you get to grow up alongside three of your best friends who have become so much more than just classmates in the span of 12 years… You know you're at Walnut Street when the place you wanted to leave for so long is the place where you wish you could stay forever," Campbell said.
Each of the high school graduates were both overjoyed and melancholy about leaving the school, faculty and friends they held so dear, they said.
