May 13 is deadline to sponsor a Flag of Honor

LOCK HAVEN -- Flags will bloom this month, and not just the pretty flowers. A hundred full-sized American flags will fly their colors in Triangle Park over Memorial Day weekend.
The goal is 100 flags, and sponsorships are coming in fast now.
Friday, May 13 is the deadline to sponsor a flag. Anyone and everyone may sponsor a flag for $35, to remember a loved one or to honor someone special.
Who would you like to honor with a flag in this striking display of the red, white and blue? You might choose a friend who needs encouragement, someone who has made a difference in your life, an employee, a veteran, a soldier, a mentor, or anyone you love and miss.
Each flag has a plaque with the name of the person it honors. The plaques are displayed on the 10-foot-tall flagpoles so that members of the public may stroll through the park and read the names as they walk by.
In addition, the names of those honored and their sponsors will be printed in The Express and in the official Flags of Honor booklet. Booklets will be available at the ceremony Sunday, May 29, at 12 noon, conducted by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
The flags will fly in the park from Friday evening, May 27, until Tuesday evening, May 31.
Flags of Honor is a project of the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven, with support from Nestlerode Contracting Co. Funds raised go to nonprofit organizations and other worthy causes.
Corporate sponsorships at $100 are new this year. Corporate sponsors will be recognized in The Express and the official booklet.
To sponsor a flag, send $35 per flag with your name, address, phone number and email, plus the name and wording for the person you are honoring, to Sue Foust, 11 Mikes Peak, Lock Haven, PA 17745. Make checks payable to Downtown Lock Haven Rotary.
