Pedestrian Mall kicks off; Main St. closes today at 3 p.m.

LOCK HAVEN — The first Pedestrian Mall of 2022 will kick off today in downtown Lock Haven.

Main Street, from Jay to Vesper, will be closed off to motorists beginning at 3 p.m. today and reopen on Saturday at 10 p.m.

The closure, like in previous years, was a request, made to Lock Haven City Council by Downtown Lock Haven, Inc., and approved. The closures allow restaurants to extend outdoor seating into the street and give businesses the opportunity to hold sidewalk sales.

And tonight, popular singing group, The Lindy Sisters, will be performing from 6 to 8 p.m. on the Grove Street Stage. Bring a lawn chair, or make a reservation at your favorite restaurant to hear these songbird sisters perform classic tunes from the 1940s.

Lana, Lynette, and Loralie definitely have a heart for swing music … and a heartbeat that palpitates from the stage to their adoring fans in the audience.

Singing together seemed as natural as breathing to this trio, who have quickly become one of the most sought after specialty acts in the Los Angeles area. Now, they’ve become a staple at the annual Sentimental Journey Fly-In, having performed last night for pilots, families and fly-in enthusiasts.

The performance is part of the City of Lock Haven’s Summer Concert Series.

On Saturday, the River Valley Regional YMCA will offer a work out class on Main Street to help you energize your day, too.

“It will be from 10 to 11 a.m. taught by Ashley Bell. It’s open to anyone of all abilities free of charge,” Y Membership Director Brandon Ranck said.

This will be the first of five Pedestrian Mall street closures for 2022. The event, which began in the summer 2020, will be the last Friday and Saturday of each month until September.
