Ross Library’s murder mystery event sees great turn out

LOCK HAVEN -- It was an evening to die for at the Sons of Italy in Lock Haven as nearly 100 people turned out for the Annie Halenbake Ross Library's annual murder mystery night.
On Saturday night, a crowd of 85 people mingled with murder suspects, enjoyed great food from local businesses, and helped to solve a series of murders.
The event, held at the Sons and Daughters of Italy in Lock Haven was a huge success for the organization. Totals are still coming in, but the library surpassed its goal, and is looking to host two mystery events next April as tickets sold out over a month in advance.
The fundraiser was to benefit all three Clinton County Libraries: Annie Halenbake Ross Library, Friendship Community Library and Renovo Area Library.
Executive Director Tammy Garrison was thankful for community support for its fundraiser.
"We had such a strong showing from the community, who snatched up tickets as soon as they were available. Many commented that they had a great time. People even hung out after the mystery was solved to catch up with their neighbors," Garrison said. "Sponsors also came through for us, making sure the night was amazing. The community support of the libraries and our mission has been fantastic, and we are so grateful for the turnout."
Tickets sold out quickly thanks to promotional assistance from Schlesinger Communications and their stations WSQV, WVCSQ, WBPZ, WBLF and QWiK Rock. The company has supported the library in the past as well.
Prior to the event, cast members Ang Harding, Ben Green, Bill Feerrer, Chris Stanonis, Garrett Cunningham, John D. Shaffer, Trish Severino and Tracey White spent hours rehearsing to get everything right.
Shawn Carr provided sound assistance and volunteers from the board of trustees, The Friends of the Ross Library and Commonwealth University made sure guests had everything they needed.
The Sons and Daughters of Italy were kind enough to donate their outdoor patio area and provided bartending services and alcohol. Local businesses provided food and drink, including Avenue 209, Central Mountain High School Culinary Arts Program, It Is What It Is, Leo's Italian and Specialty Food, Original Italian Pizza, Stella A's, Subway and Rey Azteca. Desserts were provided by Mary Jane Isenberg.
Major sponsorship was provided by The Farmer's Dotterer, Dotterer Dairy and Kiwanis Club of Mill Hall.
