The number of full-sized American flags in Triangle Park, Lock Haven, hit a new record this past weekend! The outstanding community support for Flags of Honor increased the number of flags to 158. The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven had help placing the flags in the park Friday evening, top left. Pitching in were Scouts from Woolrich Pack 66, Lock Haven Troop 711, and Beech Creek Troop 54 and Pack 54, along with members of the Rotary Community Corps and other friends of the project. This year Nestlerode Contracting Inc. helped by drilling new holes for the additional flags. At right, a good crowd gathered Sunday among the 158 Flags of Honor in Triangle Park, Lock Haven. Vocalist Kimberly Vance opened the Memorial Day Weekend program with the National Anthem. The meaning of each fold of the American flag was presented by A Company, 337th Engineer Battalion, Pennsylvania National Guard, bottom left, which also provided a color guard. Rotary Area Governor Diahann Claghorn spoke and served as emcee. Flags of Honor is a project of the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven.
