LOCK HAVEN -- With a large number of local municipal seats opening up at the end of this year, dozens of candidates will have the chance at one during the November election.
The following municipalities had at least one or more candidates running for a specific seat in various positions within its governments:
ALLISON TOWNSHIP
Republican candidate Peter Spangler will have his name on the November ballot for a six-year term as Allison Township Supervisor. Spangler, the only candidate on Tuesday's ballot, received 28 votes, according to preliminary results. Sixteen write-ins were also recorded. No Democratic candidate was listed on the ballot, but nine write-ins were recorded. Other seats up in the township with no candidates were an auditor position and constable.
AVIS BOROUGH
Four total candidates will be on the ballot in November for seats on Avis Borough Council. All three are incumbent members. Donald E. Aungst, Elmer Christian and Jeff Raab were featured on the Democratic ballot. Aungst, who serves as vice president, was the top vote getter receiving 65 votes. He was followed by Raab, council president, with 60 votes. Christian trailed close behind with 54 votes. The three will likely, barring write-in campaigns in November, fill three open seats that span six years. Jeremy Fanning was the lone Republican candidate on the ballot to fill a two-year term. Fanning received 108 votes, according to preliminary results. Another open position in the borough is constable. No names were included on either ballots during the Primary.
BEECH CREEK BOROUGH
Three Beech Creek Borough Council members are poised to retain their seats in the November election. Lisa Frank Heaton was the lone Democrat listed for one of three 4-year terms during the Primary election. Heaton received 48 votes, according to preliminary results. Two Republican candidates were featured on the ballot Tuesday. Michael English received 95 votes and Greg Small received 88 votes. Another open position in the township is constable. No names were included on either ballots during the Primary.
CASTANEA TOWNSHIP
Two candidates for a six-year term on the Castanea Township Board of Supervisors have earned a spot on November's ballot. Democratic candidate Terry W. Neff received 81 votes on Tuesday, according to preliminary results. Neff will be running against Republican candidate John Gradel in November. Gradel received 80 votes. Twenty-three write-ins were also recorded on the Republican ballot. Other open positions in the township are auditor and constable. Neither had names listed on Tuesday's ballots.
CHAPMAN TOWNSHIP
Democratic candidate Greg Werts will be the only name on November's ballot for a six-year term on Chapman Township's Board of Supervisors, according to preliminary results. Werts received 51 votes during Tuesday's election. Three auditor positions are open in the township this election cycle along with its constable. No candidates were listed in these positions.
DUNNSTABLE TOWNSHIP
Republican candidate Corey Lucas will move onto the November ballot for a six-year term as Dunnstable Township supervisor. Lucas received 167 votes, according to preliminary results. Ten write-ins for that position were also included on the ballot. No Democratic candidate was listed, however 36 write-in votes were tallied. One auditor position was also included on the ballot along with the position of constable. Neither position had a name on Tuesday's ballots.
FLEMINGTON BOROUGH
Five candidates for Flemington Borough council will move onto the November election. Each candidate is looking to score one of three seats that span four years. On the Democratic ballot, incumbent Jo LaRocque received 82 votes. She was followed by Maureen Mahon who received 77 votes. Sixteen write-ins were also recorded. The Republican ticket featured incumbent Wayne Allison with newcomers Donald Grant and Edmund Higgins, Jr. Higgins was the top vote-getter at 122. He was followed by Grant with 104 and Allison with 103 votes. Thirty four write-ins were also recorded. The borough's constable seat is also open. Republican Rodman Hall, Jr. was the lone candidate on both ballots. Hall received 132 votes on Tuesday, according to preliminary results.
GALLAGHER TOWNSHIP
Two candidates looking to fill two seats on the Gallagher Township Board of Supervisors will be included on the November ballot. William "Bill" McCoy, who is running for a six-year term, received 64 votes on Election Day. William Mann, who is running for a two-year term, received 66 votes. No Democratic candidates were listed on the ballot, and no write-ins were recorded. Two auditor positions and the constable are open this election cycle, too. No names were listed on either ballots.
GREENE TOWNSHIP
One candidate listed on the ballot for a six-year Greene Township supervisor position will have his name included in November. Matthew Miller received 159 votes, according to preliminary results. Twelve write-ins were also tallied on Tuesday. No Democratic candidate was listed in the Primary Election. One name was also listed for the position of auditor. Kelly M. Bixel punched the Republican ticket with 167 votes. The position of constable was also included, with no names listed on either ballot.
LEIDY TOWNSHIP
One name will be included on the November ballot for a six-year Leidy Township supervisor position. Justin R. Woomer punched the Republican ticket for the open seat with 26 votes. No Democratic candidate was listed on the ballot. One auditor seat and the township constable position were also included on the ballot. However, no names were listed for either the Democrats or Republicans.
LOCK HAVEN WARDS
Three candidates for open constable positions in Lock Haven will move onto the November election. Gilbert Stull was listed for the position in the city's First Ward and received 57 votes on the Republican ballot. In the city's third ward, Michael McLaughlin received 103 votes for its constable position. The Fourth Ward also has an open constable position. Domenico Giordano, Jr. was the lone candidate on the Republican ballot, receiving 123 votes. Constable positions in the city's Second and Fifth Wards were also featured on the ballots, with no names listed.
NOYES TOWNSHIP
James Tarantella will be the only name included on the November ballot for a six-year term on the Noyes Township Board of Supervisors. Tarantella received 40 votes, according to preliminary results. No Democratic candidate was featured on the ballot. Another supervisor position will also open up at the end of the year. No name was listed on the ballots, but 17 write-ins were recorded on the Republican ticket. Three auditor seats and the township's constable will be open at the end of the year. No names were listed on either ballot during the Primary Election.
RENOVO BOROUGH
Two Republican candidates for Renovo Borough Council will move onto the November Election. Both are running to fill one of three open seats to last four years. John Simon received 33 votes, according to preliminary results, followed by David Knauff with 29 votes. Forty write-ins were also recorded from Republican ballots. No names were listed on the Democratic ballot; however, 36 write-ins were tallied. No names were listed on either ballot for an open constable position in the borough.
WAYNE TOWNSHIP
Terry J. Condo will be included on the November ballot for a six-year Wayne Township Supervisor position. Condo received 197 votes, according to preliminary results. A name wasn't included on the Democratic ballot; however, 10 write-ins were tallied. Two positions for township auditor and one for constable were also included on Tuesday's ballot. Names were not featured for either the Republicans or Democrats.
SOUTH RENOVO
Burton Wilson, Jr. will be listed on the ballot in November to fill one of two South Renovo Borough Council seats. Wilson received 32 votes on the Democratic ballot. A name was not listed on the Republican ballot. The second open seat also had no names listed on either ballots. Other open seats are three for auditor and the borough constable. No names were listed on either ballots for these positions.
WOODWARD TOWNSHIP
Two candidates will vie for an open six-year term on the Woodward Township Board of Supervisors. Incumbent Michael Fetzer received 230 votes on the Democratic ballot. Ten write-ins were also counted on the ballot. Newcomer Eric Jacobs received 274 votes on the Republican ticket. Thirty eight write-ins were tallied along with that number, according to preliminary results. Two auditor positions are also open, along with the township's constable. James Krape was included on the ballot for the constable position. He received 267 votes, according to preliminary results. No Democratic candidate was listed on the ballot.
