Geisinger to relocate Avis clinic to JS Hospital May 30

JERSEY SHORE -- Another healthcare system is shifting its services.
Geisinger Primary Care in Avis will be relocating its services to Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital beginning May 30.
According to a release from Geisinger, the office will be on the second floor of the hospital, 1020 Thompson St., Jersey Shore.
"Expanded nearby parking will make it easier to reach the primary care office via the Thompson Street entrance of the hospital," the release said.
The move from its Avis location to Jersey Shore offers:
-- An expanded care team
-- RN case management
-- Diagnostic testing
-- Specialty services such as general surgery, women's health, cardiology, gastroenterology and urology
"Our mission is to make better health easier for our patients," said Tammy Anderer, chief administrative officer for Geisinger's north-central region. "We're pleased to offer many services in Lycoming and Clinton counties at our Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital location. Our patients' health will benefit from an array of services all in one place. You can come to Jersey Shore to find the quality care you expect."
Combining services into one location will improve convenience for patients and the community, the release said. Providers will see patients at the Avis clinic until Friday, May 26.
The fate of the current building is still up in the air, according to Geisinger officials.
Deb Sawyer, communications specialist for the north central region, said Geisinger owns the property along Central Avenue in the borough.
"Currently, there are no plans regarding the use of the building," Sawyer said. "Geisinger owns the building and we were the only occupant."
Sawyer said as plans are made, the public would be made aware.
Primary care hours at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital will be:
-- 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday
-- 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday
-- Closed Saturday and Sunday
Patients who have an upcoming scheduled appointment with Nigelle Pinto, MD; Kelly Eyer, CRNP, or the nursing team in Avis will still have their appointment on the same date and time, but in Jersey Shore instead of Avis. To change an appointment, schedule a new one or ask a question, message the team through MyChart or call 800- 230-4565.
Multiple changes and adjustments have come to the Geisinger Healthcare system after having its decision to join a new health system launched by California-based Kaiser Foundation Hospitals.
The union gave the Montour County-based system access to funding, technology and expertise aimed at providing "value-based" health care, Geisinger CEO Dr. Jaewon Ryu said in early May.
