JS FBLA scores high at states

JERSEY SHORE -- Multiple Jersey Shore Area School District students in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) brought home high honors during the organization's state competition.
On April 16, 31 students, along with three chaperones and one advisor, journeyed to Hershey for the annual State Leadership Conference.
FBLA is one of the many clubs at the Jersey Shore area middle and high schools, aimed at serving and improving the community through student-led projects along with volunteering at local businesses and organizations. The primary essence of the club is to find the new leaders of this generation willing to stand up and take charge in the ever-changing world of business.
While they perused workshops and networked with students from other schools, Jersey Shore students also went against other PA schools in a wide variety of competitive events that they chose for the year, ranging from objective tests to performances.
The SLC lasted through April 18, and the students came back on April 19 with huge successes and new experiences.
Seven students placed in the top 10 in the state in their respective events, and one student placed in the top 4, qualifying for the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Ga., in late June.
"Jersey Shore is so proud of its young leaders," a release from the district said.
The place winners and their respective events were:
-- Andrew Greenwood: 10th place, Business Calculations
-- Matthew Fravel: 9th place, Client Service
-- Tracy Muckelmann: 8th place, Entrepreneurship
-- Garrett Kupres: 7th place, Accounting II
-- Team of Rachel Lorson and Eli Bower: 7th place, American Enterprise Project
-- Emily Stevenson: 4th place, Business Communication, a national qualifier.
