BELLEFONTE -- The Centre County Board of Commissioners are looking for eligible affordable housing project activities for its latest grant opportunity.
Applications are now open for the grant, which utilizes monies from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. The fund was established under Act 13 of 1992.
"Awarded projects shall serve eligible individuals with a gross household income of below 100 percent of the Area Median Income for Centre County, with an inclusion of households at 30 percent as adjusted annually by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development," a release from the board said.
Eligible applicants include housing and/or redevelopment authorities, other related agencies, non-profits, land trusts and developers of affordable housing units.
Individual homeowners are not eligible under this program, the release said.
Eligible projects include construction of new rental and owner-occupied housing, acquisition and rehabilitation of housing units for re-sale or to rent and land acquisition for a proposed project to be completed within a two-year time frame.
"A cash match is not required, however, the use of Affordable Housing Trust Fund dollars to leverage other affordable housing funding is encouraged throughout the application process," the release said. "Match funds may include federal, state and/or local program funds for affordable housing initiatives in Centre County."
The 2023 Program marks the third consecutive year that the commissioners are making grants available.
A total of nine properties have been funded thus far, and approximately $150,000 granted.
Eligible applicants may obtain an Act 137 Notice of Funding Application Packet upon request by contacting the Centre County Planning and Community Development office, 420 Holmes St., Bellefonte, PA 16823.
