LOCK HAVEN -- The 2023 Clinton County Fair Queen has been crowned!
Former Queen Bryley Miller handed her crown off to Christina "Chrissy" Smith, daughter of Shane and Samantha Smith on Saturday afternoon on the Main Stage at the Fairgrounds.
Three highly qualified judges from outside Clinton County made their selection for queen based on a personal interview, evening gown competition, speech presentation, written essay and impromptu question response.
The contestants were all excellent, but only one could be the Queen.
Several girls in the area competed for this year's title, including runner-up Adysyn Phillips, Skyenne Kramer, Catherine Lavallee, Margaret "Maggie" Park, Gracie Johnson and Elizabeth "Izzy" Walker.
With this year's fair marking the 50th anniversary, it is incredible to think of all the Queens from years past.
The Clinton County Fair Queen is far more than just the face of the Fair. She promotes agriculture via community relations and education. Each year, the queen grows professionally by stepping outside her comfort zone and honing her public relations skills.
Here are some of the Fair Queens from the past three decades, some of which were in attendance for the crowning on Saturday: Brenda Seyler (1994), Erica Miller Weaver (1998), Abby Rupert Baus (1999), Elizabeth Arnold (2002), Nicole Fogleman Hockenberry (2003), Stephanie Meyer-Ciampi (2005), Lori Dotterer Butler (2008), Kayla Kerstetter (2009), Heidi Nyman (2010), Alexis Dauberman (2011), Brennan Register (2012), Keri Bechdel (2013), Mallory Foster (2014), Beth Nyman (2015), Carly Walizer (2016), Kennedey Courter (2017), McCartney Register (2018), Haili Frank (2019), Carleigh Matter (2021) and Bryley Miller (2022).
