Solid Waste Authority honors Maguire for years of service

McELHATTAN -- The Clinton County Solid Waste Authority Board of Directors celebrated 26 years of service from recently a retired member.
"I have got to thank the team we have put together here," Jim Maguire, Sr. remarked as he was congratulated Wednesday evening during the board's monthly meeting.
Jim was an acting board member for a total of 26 years with six years as chairman. For his lengthy association, he was commemorated with an Amish-made wooden rocking chair, engraved with his name and a honorary Wayne Township Landfill attribution.
The plaque on the chair reads, "For 27 years as a Board Member, 6 of which as Chairman of the Board. You have been an essential part of our organization's journey and success. We are eternally grateful for the dedication and passion you have shown. With our sincere thanks."
General Manager Jay Alexander spoke proudly of the former chairman and mentor.
"Jim has been the driving force to the four (CCWA Administration) of us," he addressed. "He has never doubted us; he pushed us beyond our limits, knew what we could do, believed in us and made us perform. I think it made us better people."
Along with board and WTL workers, Jim was joined Wednesday by his two sons, Bobby Maguire and Jim Maguire, Jr., in commemoration.
"On dad's behalf I wanted to say he has always been so proud to be a part of this, and he speaks so highly of everybody here and what you all have done over the years," Jim Maguire, Jr. expressed.
