LOCKPORT — The fire that ravaged a large home owned by the St. John’s on June 27 has been deemed accidental. Montoursville Crime Unit conducted an investigation of the incident.

The alleged cause and origin of the fire at the property, which sits at 330 Brewery Hollow Road in Woodward Township, was due to a careless smoking incident, according to the state police fire marshal. The incident ignited light combustible materials near the exterior of the residence, police said. This resulted in the finish of the log home to ignite and progress the fire to the roof system, police said.
