Fire rips through Lock Haven dental practice

LOCK HAVEN -- A fire ripped through a local dental practice over the weekend.
Multiple fire companies from Clinton County responded to a second alarm fire at 15 W. Water St., Lock Haven, shortly before midnight on Sunday. The property is the home of a dental office for Dr. Suzanne Edwards, DDS.
After fire was seen on the first floor of the building, the second alarm was called just past midnight. Extensive fire and heat damage was reported to the first floor, and considerable heat damage to the second floor that is used primarily for storage.
Crews continued to battle the blaze for about an hour, with some units from Centre and Lycoming counties called to assist, according to the Clinton County Department of Emergency Services via radio.
According to Lock Haven Fire Department's Chief Bob Neff, Sr., "the call was dispatched at 11:47 p.m., with the fire being placed under control after an hour. Crews were able to leave the scene close to 4 a.m. There were no injuries reported."
Neff added that the building appears to be repairable, but it would be quite some time before the dental practice would resume in this building.
Montoursville State Police Fire Marshall Nate Birth was at the scene Sunday morning and listed the cause of the fire as undetermined at this time.
According to LHFD's Facebook page, "We want to thank our mutual aid companies that assisted and a special thanks to the Lock Haven YMCA for offering bottled water and use of their facility," the post stated.
Fire companies that responded to the early morning blaze included Hand in Hand Hose Co., Hope Hose Co., Citizen's Hose Co., Castanea, Mill Hall, Flemington, Dunnstown, Avis, Woolrich, Beech Creek, Nittany Valley and Sugar Valley. Lock Haven EMS and the Department of Emergency Services were also at the scene.
