MILL HALL -- The Keystone Central School District Board of Directors will consider a laundry list personnel items at its voting session.
The board reviewed the list, which includes approving a hiring description for a behavior interventionist.
Superintendent Dr. Jacquelyn Martin said the position has been in the works since administrators presented the idea a year ago. It would be paid for through Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency funds.
Martin said the position is in the process of being advertised, however a job description must be solidified beforehand.
"This is a new position to help address safety issues," she said.
Further than that, Martin said it's being created to focus on de-escalation tactics in an effort to avoid potential safety concerns.
The behavior interventionist position would be tasked with forming "positive relationships with students experiencing academic, behavioral and/or attendance difficulties in school and with their families" the description reads.
The interventionist would collaborate with district administration to support families and encourage attendance and effort at school.
"This position will also assist students and provide opportunities to discuss and problem solve rather than react in emotionally charged and conflict-type situations," the description reads.
The interventionist will be tasked with encouraging mentees to find "pro-social solutions to problems and to seek out those who can assist in resolving the issues they face."
The position would be under the supervision of a building principal and would require a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in education, human services or a related field (preferred); or a combination of education and experience that would demonstrate possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities needed. The description notes a person could be presently pursuing a degree or have a high school diploma with a minimum of one year experience with on-the-job interpersonal communications.
Candidates would also be required to become fully certified in Safety Care, Restorative Practices and other training as assigned and maintain their certification status.

A leave of absence for Jerrica McGinniss, 3rd grade teacher at Woodward Elementary, effective Aug. 24 through Nov. 6. The absence is uncompensated.

Event Staff
The following event staff will be considered for the 2023-2024 school year: Frank Bardo, Thomas Baney, Shawn Carson, Harold Englert, Brenda Fetzer, Richard Grennell, Marissa Hillyer, Cindy Leitch, April Lucas, Janet Miller, Matt Rodgers, Aaron Ransdorf, Tiffany Temple, Keith Tripp, Kevin Tripp and Howard Wooding.
Rate pay change
The following summer recreation instructors will potentially see an update in rate of pay to $20.73: Madalyn Bechdel, Sydney Cooper, Maille Fowler, Julie Green, Madeline Jones, Amanda Kanouff, Alexis Lowery, Madison Packer, Kayla Probert, Sydney Redmon, Kristina Shope and Taylor Zerby.

RETIREMENT/RESIGNATIONS
-- Retirement of Tanya Walker, guidance secretary at Central Mountain Middle School, effective Jan. 5, 2024. Walker is retiring after 36 years of service. During Thursday's work session, Board Member Butch Knauff said he was amazed at the years Walker dedicated to the district. "She's a highly valued employee. She's a strong part of the school culture," Martin noted.
