LOCK HAVEN -- Lock Haven City Hall will reopen Wednesday, Sept. 27 following negative test results regarding legionella bacteria.
"The City of Lock Haven has received the results of the final series of tests which have established that City Hall is free of legionella bacteria and safe for employees to return to work at the location at 20 E. Church St.," City Manager Greg Wilson said.
Following the first test results on Sept. 18 -- which showed elimination of legionella bacteria at one location in the facility -- seven additional tests all confirmed the bacteria that causes Legionnaires Disease and Pontiac Fever has been eliminated in the building's water supply and HVAC water cooling tower, a release from Wilson said.
City offices, which have been temporarily housed at other locations, will move back into the site on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
Employees will begin full operations for the public's benefit out of City Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 27.
"The city wishes to extend its gratitude to the residents of the community for their understanding when the displacement of normal operations may have caused delays in communication," Wilson said. "Thanks to the generosity of Commonwealth University-Lock Haven, the police have been able to continue operations from a site on campus and the public has not been affected by the department's displacement. Thank you as well to all city employees who, on a moment's notice, pulled together to continue operations at other locations to continue to provide the service we can for the community's residents."
