MILL HALL -- The Keystone Central School District Board of Directors has named an interim assistant superintendent as the search for a new hire continues.
On Thursday night the board approved transferring Justin Evey into the role from his current position as virtual academy principal.
Evey will be paid a per diem rate of $500 a day beginning Sept 15. Evey was also appointed Act 44 School Safety and Security Coordinator.
According to District Superintendent Dr. Jacquelyn Martin the search for a new assistant superintendent is positive, with a number of applications received.
Martin said the first round of interviews will begin soon, with the hopes to have a recommendation to the board by October.
The board also approved an agreement with DiRocco Education Consulting, LLC which will conduct the district's search for its next superintendent.
According to the six-page agreement, DiRocco Education consultants Dr. Mark D. DiRocco and Connie R. Kindler will serve as heads of the search while keeping the board and community stakeholders in the loop.
The total cost of the contract is $19,000 with an estimated $2,000 to $4,000 tacked on for printing, advertising and travel costs, according to the contract.
Although the contract estimates a potential five-month timeline in its search, Martin previously said during the September work session they hope to have a potential candidate on the board's November agenda.
