Renovo Salvation Army recruiting bell ringers for Red Kettle Drive

RENOVO — The Salvation Army Renovo Service Extension has secured its place as a pillar of western Clinton County and the greater Renovo area over recent years, and with the holidays fast approaching, the extension that helps so many is asking for assistance of its own.

In true Salvation Army style, the help that they are seeking is so that they will be able to help the community in which it serves through their Red Kettle.

“We are now recruiting bell ringers for the 2023 Holiday Season,” Program/Office Coordinator and Caseworker Robin Davenport explains, “we’re fighting for good, and we need your help.”

Signups can be done at the Extension’s 7th Street location.

The integral and beloved kettle ringing first began back in 1891 and has become a staple of not only the Salvation Army but the holiday season as well. Volunteers that ring the bell will be helping to raise critical funds that are needed to make life-transforming programs and services possible for our neighbors who need us most.

Groups are encouraged to participate, 4-H, dart leagues, fire companies, church organizations, high school groups, etc. Bring a friend or family member and enjoy ringing the bell knowing that you’ll be helping the Renovo Extension and your neighbors this Christmas season.

One of the most visible services offered in Renovo, the Fresh Express Food Bank will be held on Monday, Nov. 6, starting at 2 p.m., with the line-up along the train tracks.

“I certainly want to extend a big thank you to the Renovo Borough and board members who stand behind the Salvation Army Renovo Service Extension in making sure traffic flows smoothly,” Davenport said. “Thanks to all of the volunteers who work behind the scenes and on the front line in all types of weather to help alleviate hunger in western Clinton County” she added.

Starting at $3.69/week.
