This weekend is jam packed with events to cure your boredom!
Clinton County events
-- Haven's Wicked Wine Fest at the Castanea Fire Company picnic grounds from 12-5 p.m. Rain or shine. Over 10 wineries will be uncorking their bottles for the wine tasting. There will be food, drinks, basket raffles and entertainment. Tickets are available at the door for $35. Visit their Facebook page, Haven's Wicked Wine Fest, for more information and updates.
-- Caedynn Miller, Krystaleigh Ott and Abigail Zimmerman are hosting a Trunk or Treat in the Central Mountain High School parking lot for their senior project on Oct. 21 from 5-7:30 p.m. There will be decorated trunks, food, games and prizes. Kids will vote on their favorite decorated trunks and the winner will get a gift card from Walmart, Dunkin and more. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the United Way.
-- Spook Haven Haunted Attraction, 100 Danis Street, Mill Hall, 7-10 p.m. every Friday and Saturday in October. The attractions include Last Rites Hospital/Psych Ward, Sick Sense and Bizarre Evil Nightmares (B.E.N) High School attractions. Tickets are $13 for one attraction, $20 for two, or $25 for all three. You can purchase tickets online at spookhaven.com or at the door with cash only. An ATM is available at the venue for your convenience.
-- Christmas in the Barns will be held at the Clinton County Fairgrounds on both Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food, raffles, Santa and lots of craft vendors will be set up in the barns of the fairgrounds. Rain or Shine! Free admission and free parking.
Centre County events
-- The Howard Fire Company's annual Punkin' Chunkin Fall Festival is being held on Saturday at Bald Eagle State Park, near Howard, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Featuring nearly 100 local craft and food vendors, hayrides, games and activities, a pumpkin pie eating contest and more. The festival is entirely free of parking or admissions costs. Any money donated during the festival goes towards supporting Howard Fire Company #14 and future Punkin' Chunkin Fall Festivals.
-- The "Out Run Hunger" 5k, the race begins at 10 a.m. It will begin and end at Big Spring Spirits at Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte. Late and day of registration is $30. The race is dog and stroller friendly. Awards in gender and age categories. Rain or shine!
-- Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy, an immersive experience at Pine Grove Hall. Oct. 19-21. Dinner reservation seating begins at 5:30, with cocktails and small plates beginning at 6:30 p.m. $35 Show General Admission -- seating limited! Join Prospero and friends as we create a hauntingly enchanted evening of Edgar Allan Poe's works including The Tell-Tale Heart, The Imp of the Perverse, and The Cask of Amontillado. Have your fortune told, discover your past, engage with the demons that lurk in the shadows and enjoy an Edgar Allan Poe specialty cocktail.
-- Back Porch String Band will be having their monthly Country Jam at the Yearick Center (Howard Fire Hall) on Sunday, Oct. 22. Bring your instrument and strum along or just sit and enjoy the music. Bring a snack to share for the afternoon of toe-tapping, hand clapping tunes from 2-6 p.m. A donation basket is passed with the funds collected benefitting the Howard Fire Company.
