LOCK HAVEN -- The Keystone Central School District's recently hired Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Randy J. Zangara, was sworn in to his position this week.
Clinton County President Judge Craig Miller and Judge Michael Salisbury conducted the swearing in ceremony on Monday in the courthouse's large courtroom with Superintendent Dr. Jacquelyn Martin present.
"I am extremely excited about joining the Keystone Central School District community. This first week has been a whirlwind. I have had the chance to meet a number of wonderful staff and community members in all the different buildings. All of these interactions have validated the fact that this is a tight knit and caring school community," Zangara told The Express.
Zangara touched briefly on his goals for the next year.
"Over the next year, my primary focus will be to fulfill the expectations set forth by the superintendent and the board of directors. This focus will be coupled with time spent gaining an understanding of how I can best serve students and the whole school community," he said. "This will be done through communication and collaboration as we will continue to build upon the successes that have already been established within this district. It's a busy but truly exciting time."
Zangara was unanimously appointed to fill the assistant superintendent position at the Keystone Central School District Board of Directors' October voting session.
Zangara previously served as the executive director of Career and Technical Education Partnerships at Pennsylvania College of Technology and began his new position on Oct. 23.
A graduate of Lycoming College and Bloomsburg University, Zangara began his teaching career at Williamsport Area School District in 1998 in Career and Technical Education and subsequently taught business education.
After receiving his Masters in School Administration from Duquesne University, he was employed as a principal at various schools in the Williamsport School District before being named Career and Technical Education Director in 2013.
Zangara earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Immaculata University and was named Dean of College Transitions and Student Success as well as an Associate Professor at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in 2018.
Martin facilitated a multi-step process which included authentic tasks and several interview panels that consisted of faculty members, administrators, community members, students, parents and school board members.
Ultimately, Zangara was selected from the group of finalists who were evaluated by the school board and administrative cabinet members.
