Baylyn Mantle and her paint mare, 'Bella,' won first place in the Raised Box Keyhole event with a time of 9.4 seconds. The event was held Oct. 26-29 at the PA Farm Show Arena with 11 fierce contenders representing Clinton County's 4-H Mane Attraction Equine Club. Raised Box Keyhole is a gaming event that requires the horse and rider team to have precision, agility, speed and guts! The objective: ride as fast as you can, stop on a dime, pivot in a small box without knocking over any cones and then immediately bolt back to the finish line. Baylyn is the eldest daughter of Lance and Kacie Mantle, of Beech Creek, and the granddaughter of Ed and Teala Mantle and Kimberlee Carey. She has been a 4-H member since 2016, now serving as the club's vice-president. Baylyn is also a member of the Keystone Junior Rodeo Association. When not in the saddle, she is often mentoring young riders, or assisting in the announcer's booth while also cheering for her fellow 'rodeo family' competitors. Baylyn is very grateful for the loving support she receives from her family and friends. However, she attributes much of her success to her trainer and mentor, Ryaan Bodle. When asked, "What does it feel like when you are sitting on your horse and galloping at full speed?" Baylyn replied, "Amazing, there is absolutely nothing like it in the whole wide world!"
