HOWARD -- Students at Howard Elementary School got to learn a lot about what it means to be a veteran thanks to the stations set up throughout the school. There were six stations set up to help educate the students in a fun and creative way.

Students rotated through the stations every 20 minutes, beginning with Ms. Sackash's Scavenger Hunt, where students of all grades learned military terms and applied them to areas throughout the school; Officer Josh Quinby from Penn State University ran a station where he educated students on the use of his K-9 companion, Zain; Phil Mertz, a Navy Veteran, taught students about the symbol of the poppy and remembrance; Michelle White with Bald Eagle State Park educated the students about the history of the Bald Eagle; the students did Veterans Day Artwork in the Library with Ms. Barrett and got to try on different helmets and jackets with Emily Doherty from the Boalsburg Military Museum.
