MILL HALL -- The Keystone Central School District Board of Directors honored one of their own -- outgoing member Wayne Koch.
Koch has served 14 years on the board, representing Region I within the district.
According to Superintendent Dr. Jacquelyn Martin, Koch has been instrumental through his time on the board, and saw the transition of four superintendents.
A plaque was showcased, which would be handed to Koch in the future, as he attended the board's voting session virtually on Thursday night.
Martin said the plaque was created by the machine trades students to honor him for his service.
The plaque reads: "In grateful appreciation to Wayne Koch for 14 years of dedicated service to the Keystone Central School Board."
Koch also received a gift card from the district team to his favorite restaurant. Both items were dropped off to Koch on Friday.
The kudos to Koch didn't stop there. Later in the meeting, Central Mountain High School Principal Nick Verrelli presented a video produced by the school's Media Class which featured a range of students and staff thanking him for his time on the board.
Verrelli said many of the staff members in the video were "people who have had the opportunity to reap the benefit of meeting him."
"My cup runneth over. I'm very humbled and it's appreciated," Koch said.
He further lamented his mixed feelings about leaving the board, only because of the work that can still be done to better the district.
"I am leaving this board with mixed feelings. The biggest regret is that there's so much that needs to be done and is left to be done. I challenge my fellow board members and the new board members to meet those challenges," Koch said. "And whoever the new superintendent is going to be and the assistant superintendent to meet all those jobs that remain yet to be done."
Koch further offered his assistance to any board member who may need it in the future.
