Pine Creek Valley Wellness Center begins expansion; looks for health professionals

AVIS -- Pine Creek Valley Wellness Center is looking to expand with more counselors available for clients.
The counseling center, located at 302 W. Central Ave. in Avis, has expanded their space to offer more therapy avenues. Originally opened in spring of 2022, the wellness center has been successful with a growing number of clients and professionals. They offer outpatient mental health counseling as well as appointments via telehealth.
"It's been great! We have a wide range of clients even though it's hard when we can't work with a client because of not having the right insurance or those types of barriers," the head of Pine Creek Valley Wellness and a licensed professional counselor, Ashley Hershberger said.
Along with her are three other LPCs and a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), each operating their own private businesses in the umbrella location.
"Everyone has potentially a different population, insurance plays a role as far as what clients they are able to accept. Everyone has their own business but all are outpatient mental health," Hershberger said.
Now, there is more space available -- more rooms for possible professionals to set up, a break room and a general living space for meetings.
Hershberger is seeking to add on other professionals in the way of wellness. Professionals such as yoga instructors, massage therapists, health and nutrition experts and other mental health counselors are being sought for the new space vacancies.
The offices are currently open to appointments depending on schedules and insurance.
"For new clients, we are still happy to work with anyone in the community. The biggest barrier is insurance and our scheduling. We also try to provide other resources in the area," she said.
If a client is unable to match schedule times or insurance, they are able to recommend them to Crossroads, Keystone Counseling or other mental health wellness alternatives.
