JS Citizens Hose awarded $17K grant

JERSEY SHORE -- The Citizens Hose Company of Jersey Shore today formally accepted a grant in the amount of $17,647.56 from Energy Transfer, which aided in the purchase of equipment to enhance the department's firefighting capabilities.
Energy Transfer is one of the largest and most diversified energy logistics companies in the country, with approximately 3,000 miles of pipeline infrastructure and gathering systems located in Pennsylvania.
"This grant from Energy Transfer was hugely helpful in helping us replace outdated personal protective equipment and remain compliant with federal requirements," said Citizens Hose Fire Chief Ethan Goodbrod. "Beyond that, replacing this gear is critical for the safety of our members as well as to help better protect our communities."
The grant was used to purchase four sets of LION personal protective equipment (PPE) for its members. This includes coats, pants, boots, gloves and escape belts.
"We are proud to partner with the first responders who protect our communities, and western Lycoming County is no exception," said Josh Snyder, Lead Specialist, Public Affairs at Energy Transfer. "We understand that PPE is only getting more expensive, yet it remains so important to keep it up to date. Energy Transfer is honored to be able to help through our First Responder Fund."
The Energy Transfer First Responder Fund provides grants to help further the primary mission of first responder organizations, including local fire departments; emergency medical services; county emergency management agencies; county, regional and local police departments; and other eligible agencies. Grants are determined based on a competitive application and review process, and written applications are accepted on a rolling basis for the following cycle.
