RENOVO -- Renovo Borough tied together some loose ends Wednesday when they held their final meeting of the year, ending in the adoption of its 2024 no-tax increase budget.
The millage rate in the borough will remain at 11.01 mills.
Council heard from Mayor Gene Bruno about the future of Mills Park.
Bruno said he spoke to one of the people involved in the purchase of the property, which was the former Clinton County Housing Authority apartments on 13th and 14th Streets in the borough.
Bruno said the new owners are looking at doing some moderate upgrade and repairs and renting out each unit.
Through conversations with one of the interested parties, Bruno reported he was told the closing would be Friday on the former Mills Park.
Council noted that previously under CCHA ownership, the borough only received a tax amount of a little over $400 per year since it was public housing. New, public ownership will increase the tax base of the property and units.
During Bruno's report it was mentioned that a surviving member of the owner of the property at 233 8th Street is willing to work with council in relinquishing the property. A caved in roof has left the structure uninhabitable.
Renovo Police Chief Greg Drolinger is expected to work with Claudia Botsford to help the business owner of Pushing Posies on 12th Street to set up customer parking in front of her store, allowing a parking space open during business hours in front of her property.
Borough council's re-organizational meeting is set for Jan. 2, 2024.
