BELLEFONTE -- During this week's Bellefonte Area School Board meeting, the board highlighted donations made to the school.

Multiple donations have been given to the school, all unanimously approved by the board. These donations included:

-- Hats and coats to students at Bellefonte Elementary School from the Bellefonte Lions Club.

-- Three Squishmellows (approximately $25 value) to The Benner Elementary PBIS from Target.

-- 50 free kids' meal vouchers to the Benner Elementary PBIS from the Texas Roadhouse.

-- $500 for school lunches from Bellefonte Lodge No. 206 Loyal Order of Moose Inc.

-- 4 Bellefonte High Band Mugs and 1974 Yearbook to Bellefonte Area High School from Dave Cree's parents, Franklin and Patricia Cree.

-- A bag of clothes, feminine products and toothpaste for the Raider Closet at the Bellefonte Area High School from Jennifer South.

-- Holiday donations for Bellefonte Area School District students in need from Fullington Bus Company.

The school board was very thankful for all donations to the schools in its district, and profusely thanked those who donated.

Current board president Jon Guizar noted that Vice President Kimberly Weaver had to step down from her role as treasurer, and that Andrea Royer would fill that position.

The Bellefonte Area School District's Board of Directors are seeking community residents' input via a survey into the selection of their next superintendent. The survey is accessible via the District's website www.basd.net or by contacting the District office 814-355-4814, ext. 3005 or lelder@basd.net through today, Friday, Jan. 5.

Current Superintendent, Tammie Burnaford, announced in October in a letter to district families that she would not be seeking an extension of her current contract which expires on June 20, 2024.
