LOCK HAVEN -- The City of Lock Haven will begin searching for a new Director of Public Works.
City Manager Gregory Wilson told council on Monday night that the current director, Tony Stopper, submitted his resignation. His final day will be Feb. 2.
"We'll be moving forward to advertise for someone to fill the position in the city," Wilson said.
Stopper has been with the city for just over five years, after being hired in 2018.
In other business council:
-- Heard from representatives of airport property owners regarding a contract that was recently sent to lease holders. According to Nils Montzaros, the contract that was presented was strictly for residential use, not commercial. Wilson said another business owner who leases from the airport, Bob Larson, came to the city about the issue and that the solicitor, Attorney Justin Houser, was redrafting the contract. The contract will be resent once it’s completed, he said.
-- Approved a use request for Triangle Park from the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven for its annual Memorial Day Flags of Honor Display and its Sept. 11 Angel Lights Display.
-- Approved the use of Zindel Park on Feb. 3 for the annual Frozen Snot trail race.
-- Approved the use of the levee walkway on April 14-16 for the Adventure Run race, held by Warrior Trail Running.
-- Approved a use request from the Great Island Triathlon for its 2024 race.
-- Passed a resolution to apply for the 2024 Community Development Block Grant.
