MILL HALL -- The Bald Eagle Township Board of Supervisors received a brief update on the proposed Wawa construction along Route 150 recently.
The update was among a variety of business the board took care of during its February meeting.
Earlier in January, the supervisors gave their conditional approval of the land development plans for the construction of a Wawa.
During that meeting it was discussed that the plans for the Wawa will include raising the site in order to remove the zone from the floodplain and a map amendment once that’s finished.
According to Marissa Morgan, Secretary/Treasurer, there have been no significant updates to the Wawa Development plan, but things are moving in the right direction.
With the last update the township received, they found the traffic study conducted has been submitted for review to PennDOT.
The supervisors also approved a letter of support for Ironman 70.3 to take place on June 30, 2024.
Athletes will complete a race beginning with a 1.2-mile swim in Foster Joseph Sayers Reservoir at Bald Eagle State Park, a 56-mile bike ride through Centre and Clinton counties and finishing with a 13.1-mile run on the campus of Penn State University, with the finish line inside Beaver Stadium.
The supervisors discussed their annual tire collection for those in the township, indicating they plan to have this year’s collections on May 17 and 18, 2024.
According to the board, each resident is allowed a maximum of 12 tires. No commercial tires will be accepted at the township office, only residential.
"Mulch days" will also happen again this year at a to-be-determined date, where residents of the township will be able to pick up mulch at the municipal building.
The board also unanimously adopted Clinton County's Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The Bald Eagle Township Board of Supervisors will meet again on March 18 at 5 p.m.
