LOCK HAVEN -- The Keystone Central School District officially has its newest superintendent.
Dr. Francis "Frank" Redmon was sworn into the position on Thursday afternoon by President Judge Craig Miller and Judge Michael Salisbury at the Clinton County Courthouse, just hours before he attends his first school board meeting Thursday in his official capacity.
Thursday was Redmon's first day on the job, following the retirement of Dr. Jacquelyn Martin in January.
"It is with great honor and a sense of deep gratitude that I begin my service to the Keystone Central School District as its superintendent. I look forward to learning from the students, teachers, support staff, administration, board and community," Redmon said. "Your dedication to learning, growth and improvement is a testament to the value that our community puts on public education as well as the commitment to support the district's efforts to ensure each student exemplifies our profile of a learner."
"I am committed to lead the district to continue the course that has been set by the board of education and our community and to become an integral part of the district and the KCSD community. Together we will ensure that we continue our future-focused education in our world class school district," he continued.
Prior to coming to Pennsylvania, Redmon served as the superintendent of the Quilcene School District on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. He has also served as the superintendent of Ashgabat International School in Turkmenistan, a principal and assistant principal of middle and high schools in urban and suburban schools in Washington, and a middle and high school teacher of science and mathematics in Wisconsin, Washington and Minsk, Belarus.
In addition to his teaching roles, he was also the theatrical director and sometime soccer coach.
Redmon earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Education from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis.; a Master's of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Washington, Seattle; a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin, Madison; and a PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
