STATE COLLEGE -- Therese Hollen has announced her intent to run for the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives in the 82nd legislative district.

"My husband and I moved to Centre County to begin a new chapter of life in a beautifully vibrant community that blends urban and rural. Our community faces challenges on numerous fronts overlooked and ignored by Harrisburg. Our communities, our way of life, and our Commonwealth deserve far more than the status quo. We the People deserve better," Hollen said in her announcement.

According to a release from Hollen, she believes the people of Centre County and Pennsylvania have the right to a legislature that works for them.

"We are at a critical juncture for the future of our state and nation. Currently, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives is not doing the job Pennsylvanians elected them to do," Hollen said. "Every single representative should be prioritizing Pennsylvanians, unfortunately that is not today's reality."

Hollen cited partisan politics as a reason the legislature is in deadlock "while a democratic majority demonstrates a dereliction of duty."

"Residents of Centre County are hurting because of an economy that does not work for them. They are worried about crime that is migrating out of cities into our rural communities, Hollen said. "Additionally, they are concerned for the future Pennsylvania can offer their children and grandchildren."

Hollen said, if elected she will "fight tooth and nail to provide a brighter future for all Pennsylvanians."

According to her announcement, this includes ensuring the safety of residents from violent crime; where first responders are supported and strengthened; education opens opportunities for children; families won't need to choose between groceries or medicine; where fixed incomes are not jeopardized by "reckless government spending"; businesses can flourish; energy is efficient, abundant and clean; farmers; where farmers can feed communities.

"Most importantly, a future that secures our constitutional rights to the blessings of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness," Hollen said.

"This race is the key to the Keystone State. This November, right here in Centre County, do you want to continue with our dismissive legislature or be the change Pennsylvania deserves? This November, you can be the change Pennsylvania needs when you go to the polls," Hollen said. "I, Therese Hollen, Candidate for State Representative, am asking for your vote on Nov. 5 because you, your family, and our community deserve a future full of opportunity and prosperity."
