MILL HALL -- Those who travel the Church Street bridge in Mill Hall Borough will need to find an alternate route in the future.
Mill Hall Borough Council announced Tuesday night it will be closing the bridge to vehicle traffic after it failed another inspection.
The bridge will not be closed immediately, allowing residents time to find alternate routes. The overall goal is to block the entirety of the bridge, but leave around three feet of space on either side to allow pedestrians to walk across it.
The bridge is tentatively planned to be closed by June 1, though this is subject to change.
Council has approved a street sweeper from Pine Creek Township to clean borough streets on April 1 and 2.
Because of this, there will be no parking on any borough street between the hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on those days.
Council has also canceled the annual Heritage Day event for 2024.
According to Council President Tony Walker, there was a high possibility of no food vendors being at the event, and the only thing they could secure were fireworks.
"The only thing we basically had concrete was fireworks. I can't see spending money just for 45 minutes of fireworks," said Walker.
The motion passed with a singular opposition from Council Member Derek Berry.
