Partnership names facility after long-time board member Dan Harger

LOCK HAVEN -- Daniel "Dan" Harger was raised by his parents to understand that when you give back, you get back.
And after his decades of service to ensure economic development and tourism in Clinton County, he received a great honor in return.
On Wednesday afternoon dozens gathered outside the Clinton County Economic Partnership, 212 N. Jay St., Lock Haven, as it was officially unveiled as the Daniel R. Harger Center for Economic Development and Tourism.
The honor was first announced at the CCEP annual dinner in October, where President/CEO Mike Flanagan and many others commended Harger for over 60 years of service to the community.
"The new sign will honor a person who has volunteered for many years and been involved in every industrial park we've had for the last few decades," Flanagan said at the time. This includes the Harold Sweeney Clinton County Industrial Park, Beech Creek Industrial Park, Renovo Industrial Park and the William Garbrick Sr. Lamar Industrial Park.
"Infrastructure, transportations, outdoors, meetings galore, he's been involved in all of it," Flanagan said of Harger at the dinner.
This honor was cemented in place Wednesday in front of dozens of individuals including local and state officials, members of the private sector and Harger's family.
When it was his chance to speak, Harger thanked everyone involved for giving him such an honor. He spoke of his early days in western Clinton County where both parents were heavily involved in the community -- including his mother's role in running the Flaming Foliage Festival and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Harger said his parents instilled in him at a very young age that "you give back and you get back."
Harger thanked his wife and children and other family members for their support over the years as he worked to better the county both economically and in tourism.
"I've had a long run of it and my family has stood by me the whole time," he said.
From ensuring the Flaming Foliage Festival was a staple event in Clinton County, kicking off hang gliding in Hyner to pushing for better infrastructure through roadways and bridge improvements with former Senator J. Doyle Corman, Harger has always put Clinton County's interests first.
"It's been a success story for me," Harger said of CCEP. "There's a lot of things left to do. But I'm awfully proud of what we've accomplished. Not just me... but the people."
"We're going to keep right on moving," he concluded.

The sponsors assisted in the creation of the sign and sponsored a light luncheon following the unveiling at the Lock Haven VFW.
