Project Healing Waters: Veterans event kicks off May 3

CROSS FORK -- This weekend, beginning on Friday, May 3, starts the 6th annual Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Weekend.

The Kettle Creek Watershed Association sponsors the annual Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing outing, bringing veterans together in Kettle Creek valley.

The event starts with a Patriot Parade to show support for the veterans in attendance, escorted by fire trucks and combat veterans on motorcycles. The parade members will begin driving the planned route at 4:45 p.m.

The parade will take place on state Route 120 to Westport, and then up Kettle Creek valley to Cross Fork, where the fish stocking will commence.

If you're available that day and are along the parade route, you're encouraged to wave flags or otherwise show your appreciation as the veterans drive by.

The Project Healing Waters event provides a full weekend of fun and camaraderie for veterans including lodging, fly fishing and meals for disabled veterans each year.
