LOCK HAVEN -- The Clinton County Board of Commissioners have approved a resolution which can assist in the county's ability to receive broadband funds.
The resolution is in support of the Broadband Equity and Deployment program, of which Pennsylvania received $1.16 billion.
Engineer/Planner Steve Gibson said the resolution will improve the county's chance of receiving a portion of this funding during the board's work session on Monday.
At the time, he noted the resolution would support the county's 29 municipalities in their efforts to pass resolutions and ordinances to make them broadband ready communities.
On Thursday, Gibson emphasized just how important it will be for municipalities to do so.
"We are going through the Broadband Challenge map review process right now. I just want everyone to know that there are a lot of underserved areas of Clinton County," he said. "This process to be broadband ready, or to have municipalities lessen the rules to implement broadband, is going to be very very important."
Gibson said his department intends to reach out to each municipality and offer assistance in the process following the board's approval of the resolution.
