Woodward Twp. draws for lone available river lot
LOCKPORT — There was only one available river lot along the Susquehanna River for this year’s lottery.
Supervisor Michael Fetzer pulled three names — one winner and two alternate — from a rolling ticket barrel. The winner was Casey Caprio.
Township secretary Jackie Bartlett will contact the first name pulled and the candidate will have a few days to respond. If they don’t respond or decline the lot she’ll move on to the next name.
Various bids for stone and salt as well as bids for the Lockport Heights pipe project were received.
For Lockport Heights, the two bids received were:
— Wyde Excavation & Hauling, LLC – $19,898.88
— Toner Trucking and Excavating – $23,550
The Wyde Excavation bid was chosen as it was the lowest.
For stone bids, both the offers from Glenn O. Hawbaker and Hanson Aggregates, LLC were chosen due to differing costs on individual items. Hanson offered the lowest price on everything except 1B stone.
For salt bids, the supervisors received the following:
— Cargo – $106.19
— American Rock Salt – $93.71
The American Rock Salt bid was chosen as it was the lowest.
Supervisors also wanted to remind the general public to not leave grass clippings on the roadway per its ordinance.
With nicer weather, township residents have been mowing their lawns and leaving grass clippings in the roadway which can be a danger to those on the roadway.
“It’s okay to get it on the road, but you need to — in a reasonable amount of time — blow it back off the road. It’s that time of year,” said Supervisor Kyle Coleman.
Excavator specifications were also discussed but no decision has been made yet on which model the township should purchase, if either.
