LOCK HAVEN — Local weatherman Joe Snedeker will be kicking off his 27th Annual Go Joe fundraiser right here in Clinton County.

Go Joe 27 is an annual charity bike ride organized by Joe, a morning meteorologist for WNEP-TV 16. The event raises funds for St. Joseph’s Center in Scranton, which provides resources for families and individuals in northeastern and central Pennsylvania, including children and young adults with disabilities.

The announcement was made late last week by WNEP along with the theme “Year of Inflatables.”

According to an announcement from the Clinton County Visitor’s Bureau, the event will begin with Joe’s arrival on Sunday, July 21, during the Lock Haven Summer Concert Series. Trip the Lights is set to perform on the floating stage that evening.

“The secret is out! Go Joe 27 “Year of Inflatables” will arrive at the floating stage summer concert series on Sunday, July 21, sometime while Trip the Lights is performing to get everyone excited for his kick off,” the announcement said.

Joe is set to officially take off on his annual fundraising bike ride the next morning at the Woodward Township boat launch.

The visitor’s bureau is currently looking for the community’s help in making sure Joe is welcomed with open arms by attending the concert; showing up to the boat launch at 4:45 a.m. for Joe’s forecast the following day; and potentially donating any inflatable decorations to be utilized for the event.

One community business is helping out in another special way.

Rachel K Creations, located on Main Street in downtown Lock Haven, is holding a special T-shirt sale — with a portion of the proceeds to benefit Go Joe 27.

“The shirt was originally ordered by Stephanie Zerby, for her colleague, Lois Gallagher,” Rachel Killinger, owner of Rachel K Creations, told The Express.

The shirt features a bike rider with the words “I’m like Joe Snedeker. I have lots of problems.”

“Lois was retiring from teaching at Mill Hall Elementary (and) Stephanie wanted to make a meaningful gift for her, and chose the shirt because Lois is such a huge Joe Snedeker fan.”

According to Killinger, Lois loved the shirt so much she submitted a picture of her holding it to WNEP and shared it on Joe’s Facebook page.

“Lois and I talked and decided — because the shirt was such a hit — we should offer it for sale and donate 15 percent of the proceeds to Go Joe 27,” Killer said.

The T-shirt was even showcased during a recent morning broadcast on WNEP.
