Bids open for MH park bathrooms

MILL HALL — The bathrooms at Mill Hall Park will soon be getting a much-needed overhaul.

Mill Hall Borough Council met 15 minutes before their monthly meeting to open bids from two local businesses.

They received two — one from M&R Contracting and one from RTG Solutions.

Both bids exceeded the funds available to the borough, with RTG Solutions’ bid at $133,200 and M&R Contracting’s bid at $88,650.

The borough has access to $87,076 through leftover COVID relief funds, leaving $1,574 to be covered through park funds.

The bathroom renovation will include a complete overhaul in order to make the building ADA compliant.

“That building was probably built back in the ’50s, so everything in there needs to be brought up to 2024 standards,” said Chairman Tony Walker.

The borough also discussed sidewalk evaluations through Hoy Inspection Service, LLC, to conduct sidewalk inspections.

In the end, the many questions brought up by council led to the action items to evaluate the sidewalks one street at a time and the permitting of amosite on certain walkways being tabled.

Despite tabling the two action items regarding the sidewalks, council did approve an amendment to the completion date for sidewalk repairs. The amendment allowed for residents to have one year to address concerns after notification from the borough.
