Kettle Creek bridge work begins Monday

CROSS FORK — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that crews for a bridge rehabilitation project impacting Kettle Creek Road in Leidy Township will mobilize starting Monday, March 31. Replacing the deck of this bridge, which spans Kettle Creek four miles south of Leidy, will improve the ride quality and extend the service life of the structure while improving its overall condition rating from poor to good.

Flaggers in the roadway will direct traffic while the contractor mobilizes equipment and places temporary traffic signals at the ends of the bridge. The contractor will set the signals to flash mode for seven days and activate them on Monday, April 7. Once activated, they will provide traffic control for the project’s duration.

Work on this bridge entails replacing the superstructure, paving the approaches, improving drainage, relocating water and sewer lines, installing guide rail and miscellaneous construction. PennDOT expects the contractor to complete work on this bridge late in November. All work is weather-dependent.

Two bridges in Juniata County and another in Mifflin County will also see work as part of this contract. Work on those bridges will start later in the 2025 construction season. Rylind Construction Company, Inc. of Muncy, Pa., is the contractor on this $5 million contract.
