WINGATE — The Bald Eagle Area School District has unanimously approved the hiring of Chad Packer to serve as the next Director of Secondary Education, a role which includes leadership of the Bald Eagle Area Middle and High School.

Packer currently serves as principal of Tyrone Area High School in the Tyrone Area School District and was chosen from a field of eight candidates for the position.

Chad began his teaching career in the Bald Eagle Area School District as an elementary teacher and reading specialist in 2000. He served in that role until 2017. He transitioned into the role of MTSS Coordinator at BEASD, which he served in from 2017 to 2020.

Packer began his school leadership experience in 2020, serving as principal of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School in State College, Pa., for a year before moving to the Tyrone Area School District as Elementary Assistant Principal.

For the past three years, Chad has served as the principal of Tyrone Area High School.

A graduate in the Class of 1995 from Bald Eagle Area High School, Packer attended Penn State University majoring in Elementary Education. He earned a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership from California University of Pennsylvania.

“We are excited to bring Mr. Chad Packer back home to Bald Eagle Area,” said Chris Santini, superintendent of the Bald Eagle Area School District. “Chad’s data-driven approach to school improvement, ability to work in a team and experience in the role of High School Principal set him apart. We look forward to adding his ideas and approach to our team.”

“The Bald Eagle Area Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Chad Packer to the role of Director of Secondary Education,” said Tina Greene, president of the BEASD Board of School Directors. “We look forward to working with him to enhance the academic profile of our High School. We know that as he returns to BEA he brings administrative experience that will blend with his roots as a BEA Alum and previous time spent in the district as a teacher.”

“I am excited to return to BEA to help continue to create the best environment for every student to learn and reach their potential,” said Packer. “I valued the teamwork and faculty members that I worked with during my career there and hope to continue that collaboration as an administrator to improve student learning.”

Chad and his wife, Tanya, reside in Howard. They have two daughters, Alyssa and Katelyn.

Packer begins his duties at BEASD in the summer of 2025.
