BE Twp gets Sheetz remodel update

New website on the horizon

MILL HALL — Bald Eagle Township has approved an upgrade for their website through Cross Life Ventures.

Kate and Chris Miller, of Cross Life Ventures, approached Bald Eagle Township to propose the construction of a new website.

Their current website, baldeagletownship.com, was put together by Secretary Marissa Morgan through a program called Wix.

The website currently has seven tabs at the top for the homepage, an about tab, the minutes, services, ordinances, gallery and a contact tab. A few tabs, once clicked, only read “under construction — coming soon.”

A ticker at the bottom of the website indicates the website has been accessed 14,735 times as of the time of writing this article.

Residents can use the website to pay their taxes and make sewer payments online. This feature will still be available once the new website is built.

While the website is perfectly functional as is, Morgan admits it could be better.

For a total project cost of $1,388, the newly constructed website will include the following:

— A custom website package that includes bluehost hosting and domain name setup, WordPress setup and mobile responsive website design, eight pages to begin with, built in search engine optimization, Google analytics setup, basic WordPress training, three new blog/news posts and one event listing.

— 12 month website maintenance that begins once the website is constructed.

During last month’s meeting, the Bald Eagle Township supervisors announced they were going to hold a meeting with a representative from Sheetz about a remodel of the building.

Though there aren’t many details to share about the project itself, the general concept of the remodel was discussed in the meeting.

According to Tasselli, representatives from Sheetz are moving forward with a full demolition of the building.

There are no plans to add a drive in at this time, but there are plans to add another pump station as well as a tire air station. The building will be completely updated and equipped with the latest equipment.

“They are anticipating a five month turnaround. They’re hoping to kick off by March,” said Tasselli.

In other news:

— The supervisors have received a major discount through another company for line painting on Hogan Boulevard. Though some parts of the roadway were repainted within the last couple of years, the supervisors have decided to paint it all again so everything is done at the same time. Instead of the initial approximate $21,000, the supervisors will now pay around $7,000 for the same work.

— There has been no update on the Wawa convenience store.

— The supervisors are still discussing an updated retirement plan for employees; information will be shared as updates come up.

— Employees Brock Gallagher, Road Crew, and Derek Caris, Road Crew and Sewer Operator, are to receive an employee review within the next month.

— Supervisor Steve Tasselli attended last month’s Mill Hall Borough meeting and brought back concerns about the Mill Hall Fire Company. A discussion will be held about the future of funding for the company from Bald Eagle Township.

Starting at $3.69/week.
