Fallon prepares to debut outdoor space; sets Fourth of July event

LOCK HAVEN -- Another new feature is coming to the historical Fallon Hotel in downtown Lock Haven.
Owner Carey Chisolm is set to unveil "Oasis" -- the latest addition which features an update to the Est. 1856 dining space, also known as the Isosceles, and a brand new outdoor space.
"We're revamping to prepare for the Oasis," Chisolm said, standing inside the dining space of the building.
Booths were lined up, ready to be placed along with a few other features in the area, which includes a small bar, and is located next to the dance area and big bar space of the first floor.
"When I was talking to people they said they were looking for more. A lot of patrons said they enjoy the entertainment in the big bar space but it can be too loud," he said. "So we wanted to make this space more intimate."
Chisolm said he's replacing some of the high top tables with booths to allow more comfortable seating and created an entrance to Oasis just off of the dining area.
Oasis features an outdoor deck space with benches and a ramp leading to the courtyard.
The courtyard, he said, will be utilized for outdoor events such as beer pong and miniature cornhole. Three subwoofers were installed underneath the deck to provide music.
The goal for the area is to create a space out of the norm, he continued.
"It's something different," he said.
A phrase The Fallon, and its bar Est. 1856 is known for, is "we outside."
Chisolm said there's a key reason for this, even if the outdoor space is only just being completed.
"If you think about growing up, where was the place you had the most fun and made memories? Outside, gathering with your friends in the neighborhood or coming together," he said. "And this space is aimed to be outside of the norm."
"And now we're physically outside," he said.
Chisolm noted many patrons, even long-time residents of the area, weren't aware the historic hotel and bar even had an outdoor space.
To celebrate the new space, Chisolm said The Fallon will be holding two different parties on Friday, July 4.
A day party will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. along with a night rave and foam party from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Chisolm said the day party will include barbeque provided by Renee's Kitchen, drink specials, beer specials and DJ Spt5 will offer music throughout the party. A car show will also be featured in the back parking area near the courtyard.
The party will continue at 8 p.m. with DJ Big A keeping things energetic for the rave and foam party well into the night. Those planning on attending either party can use the hotel entrance.
Chisolm said splitting the opening into two parties is to allow anyone to stop by.
"This is great for everyone to be able to stop by," he said. "There should be no reason you can't check out what we're doing here."
Chisolm said he hopes to expand on this outdoor space in the future, as he and his wife continue to renovate the historic structure piece by piece.
For now though, he said he's happy with the work that's been done.
"Where we're at now and the time span we've done it in I'm very happy," he said.
