HOWARD — At 59-year-old Howard Township man was pronounced dead by Centre County Coroner Deputy Jason Brooks following an ATV crash on Sunday evening.

According to a report from the coroner’s office, Brooks was called to the scene of the crash, which occurred in the 600 Block of Greens Run Road in the township.

The deceased was identified Monday afternoon as Roger Heverly.

Both state police at Rockview and the coroner’s office are investigating the incident, the report said.

According to a state police crash report, the crash occurred about 7:40 p.m. where Heverly lost control of a 1988 Honda TRX 250R and struck a tree.

Police noted he was driving too fast and was not wearing a helmet or other safety equipment.

The ATV was inoperable after the crash, police said.

A cause of death has not officially been filed as of press time Monday.

Police were assisted on the scene by Howard Fire Company, Bellefonte EMS and Mount Nittany Medical Center EMS.
