Riverfest 2025 a success; Supervisors talk about event at July meeting
LOCKPORT — This year’s Riverfest was a success according to the Woodward Township Board of Supervisors.
During this month’s board meeting, they discussed Riverfest 2025 which took place beginning June 26 — a little earlier than in previous years.
The supervisors scheduled the event earlier in hopes of catching more of a crowd, but they weren’t sure if it made much of a difference.
There was a good turnout, though, and the long-anticipated cardboard boat race drew in a decent crowd.
Township residents and event-goers flocked to the stage to hear bands play throughout the weekend.
The weather stayed relatively hot throughout the day, with cooler temperatures hitting towards the evening hours. On Saturday, a thunderstorm hit mid-afternoon but cleared up as the day went on.
“Thursday night was a steady night. It was super busy Friday (and) Saturday. It was steady through the afternoon and then busy again Saturday night. (The storm) couldn’t have come at a better time,” said Supervisor Kyle Coleman.
According to Coleman, around 1,051 ducks were sold for the derby this year.
“We’re always within 50-100 ducks every year,” said Coleman. “It was a good year.”
In next month’s recreation meeting the recreation board will discuss Riverfest 2026 and decide whether or not to keep the late June event date.
