BELLEFONTE — Representatives from SitelogIQ, the firm overseeing renovations to the mechanical and electrical systems at Pleasant Gap Elementary School, attended Tuesday evening’s school board meeting to update the directors on the project’s progress.

Earlier in the day, board members toured the facility, which is set to welcome students back on Aug. 26.

According to SitelogIQ’s Michael Sandacz, who led the presentation, the project reached substantial completion this week with the installation of new HVAC systems, the completion of all wireless access points and installation of piping.

All six rooftop units were installed without complications, Sandacz said, adding that the building’s bulkheads are also finished, the fire alarm system is operational and the facility is fully energized.

Work is still underway to replace lighting fixtures in the gymnasium, and about 20 percent of ceiling tiles remain to be installed. Air and water balancing, commissioning, site cleanup and demobilization also remain to be completed.

“We had an occupancy inspection this morning that passed,” Sandacz reported. “The next step is the punch list and finishing up the job.”

Commissioning and other final work will continue over the next month, the representatives said.

SitelogIQ’s Jason Erb also informed the board of an HVAC area unit that arrived from the factory with a faulty coil.

“It’s going to be several weeks until we get that up and running, so we’re providing temporary units to keep those areas conditioned,” Erb said.

He added that he hoped the replacement unit, which serves the multi-purpose cafeteria, would be delivered for installation in early September.

Sandacz also shared that teachers began returning to the building yesterday and that staff from Roan’s Mayflower Moving would be available to help them move items back into their classrooms.

“Teachers just seem to keep bringing more stuff, so we’ve got some movers that are going to be assisting them tomorrow moving back in,” he said.

Starting at $3.69/week.
