MILL HALL — It was a busy day for the Central Mountain Marching Band on Saturday, Oct. 11. After marching in the 76th Annual Flaming Foliage Parade, the band went to Williamsport Area High School to compete in a Cavalcade of Bands marching band competition.
This marks the second and final competition for the band this season. Last weekend, they traveled to Wellsboro to compete in the Tournament of Bands circuit, bringing home a first place finish in their division with a score of 69.440.
With judges’ comments in hand, the band spent the week making some adjustments to the show, and those changes paid off. At the Calvalcade competition the band scored a 75.15, earning second place in its class.
Other events the band has performed in this season include the Tussey Mountain Band Festival, several parades in local communities, home football games and the Mifflin County away game.
The band continues to refine their field show and parade routines at rehearsal because still to come are the football game against Jersey Shore, two Halloween parades and the Lock Haven Holiday Parade. The band hopes to add more competitions next year and perhaps even host a show.
