LOCK HAVEN — Clinton County was awarded a $20,000 grant from America250PA’s second Semiquincentennial Grant Round for a Mural Mosaic Project titled “250 Years and Still Growing.” This funding enables a collaborative public art initiative, celebrating America’s 250th anniversary in 2026. Hundreds of community members will create the project, each painting an individual tile. These unique contributions, when combined, will form a breathtaking large-scale mural to be installed in a prominent location within the county. This mural is more than art–it’s a story of who we are as a community. Each participant, from students to seniors, will have a hand in shaping a piece of history that will inspire generations to come.
The mural draws inspiration from the historic Tiadaghton Elm, a lost landmark tied to America’s ideals of independence. Much like the Elm brought people together 250 years ago, this mural will unite today’s community in celebration of shared heritage and future growth. Clubs, groups, organizations, and businesses are invited to schedule their individual group events for painting the tiles. Together, they will be weaving history and cultural pride into this one-of-a-kind project. Then, the completed mural will be unveiled in 2026, serving as a vibrant cultural landmark that reflects Clinton County’s legacy and enduring spirit.
“It’s thrilling to see so many Pennsylvania communities and organizations stepping up with meaningful, engaging, and inspiring plans as we approach the Semiquincentennial,” said Cassandra Coleman, Executive Director of America250PA. “These grants are giving Pennsylvanians the tools to come together, remember where we’ve been, and imagine what comes next. America250PA is incredibly proud to support this work, and grateful to Governor Shapiro and the General Assembly for making it possible.”

About America250PA
The Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial (America250PA) was established by the General Assembly and the Governor in 2018 to plan, encourage, develop, and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States, Pennsylvania’s integral role in that event, and the impact of its people on the nation’s past, present, and future. The Commission is composed of current and former Pennsylvania leaders, celebrating the state’s rich history and diversity.
America250PA hopes to engage all citizens of the Commonwealth, from each of its 67 counties, to participate in creating a statewide celebration and bringing the Commonwealth’s history into the conversation. That shared history provides a foundation for understanding the origins and diverse viewpoints on the challenges affecting both our Commonwealth and our nation. The Commission’s ability to communicate its vision, engage various audiences, and encourage inclusive and cohesive participation is key to a successful America250PA. The visionary framework — especially our E.P.I.C. theme of Educate, Preserve, Innovate, and Celebrate — contains the essential messaging to bring the Semiquincentennial to life across the Commonwealth.
