LOCK HAVEN — Give Back: A Community Thrift Store has announced their grand opening set for today at 10 a.m., during their ribbon cutting ceremony at 111 E. Main St., Lock Haven, on Thursday, Oct. 9.
Reviving the original Salvation Army thrift store, now known as Give Back, is the Hilty family, following in their grandparents’ footsteps as they continue to help improve downtown Lock Haven by giving back to their community.
“After a long 18 months, filled with a lot of work, sweat and tears,” according to Bree Hilty, the store is ready for its full debut to the public.
The Hiltys’ grandparents, Dan and Leslie, originally opened the Salvation Army thrift store after purchasing the building in 1998.
They honored Dan and Leslie during their welcome speech, along with a photo at the front of the store saying “In loving memory of who came before us — the heart of our family and the reason we started this store. Their legacy lives on in the building they purchased in 1998, and in every act of giving back.”

“They are a big part of what we want to do here and we want to make things affordable for the community,” said Bree. “We want to give back as much as we possibly can.”
The act of giving back doesn’t end with the opening of the store as Blake Marsh, a spokesperson with the family, shared that a portion of the profits made from the store will be donated to a different non-profit each month, with Precise for Paws being October’s recipient.
“We will be spotlighting a different non-profit each month to help out in the town as well,” Marsh said.
During the ribbon cutting, the Hilty family stood side by side as they began the next chapter of giving back, in honor of the legacy created by Dan and Leslie.
While you walk through the store, you’re surrounded by a large selection of men’s, women’s and children’s clothes, shoes, kitchenware, festive decor and more! Give Back is also accepting donations during their store hours which will be Monday-Saturday 10-6 p.m.

While the store may be filled with lots lots of goods to look through, if your kids find themselves getting restless as you browse the store, they can check out the built-in playhouse tucked away near the front of the store where, if they’re lucky, they’ll meet Stella, one of the youngest Hilty’s, who’s already well on her way to being their top salesperson, sharing the deals she has set aside for her customers.
In addition to family, friends and the community, many members of the Clinton County Economic Partnership were in attendance, including Megan Wheeler, Chris Miller and Jason Fitzgerald, CEO to support the opening of a locally owned small business.
Stop in and show your support, as the Hilty family says “giving back never goes out of style!”
