‘Haunt the maze’: Pine Creek Corn Maze gets ‘haunted’ this weekend

PHOTO PROVIDED It’s the ultimate haunted maze experience as Spook Haven ‘haunts’ the Pine Creek Corn Maze this Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

SOUTH AVIS — The second of five weekends of the annual Pine Creek Corn Maze is set for this weekend!

The fall maze — open Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 26 at Pine Creek Seed Farm in South Avis — promises something for everyone, from cute goats and a pumpkin patch, to scare-your-socks-off horror!

The corn maze opens at noon both Saturday and Sunday. The 19-acre, 3.6-mile maze is one of the largest in the state and feedback from last week’s opening weekend is that it’s definitely a challenge and fun for the whole family.

While navigating the corn maze, people will encounter corn questions, they’ll get to hunt for hidden critters and more. The paths through the maze are stroller and handicapped accessible, and if you’re feeling lost, there is a phone number to call for help, as well as two emergency exits.

Before and after taking on the corn maze, people can enjoy the festival atmosphere at Pine Creek Seed Farm. This weekends’ food vendors include Pappy’s BBQ, the Pretzel Spot and the Jersey Shore Lioness Club serving up their famous corn soup.

In addition, Starr Hill Winery out of Clearfield County will be on hand, along with other vendors.

The farm’s pumpkin patch is always a popular spot. This year, students from several local elementary schools — Avis Elementary, Mill Hall and Woodward Elementary Schools, Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, Lock Haven Catholic School and Walnut Street Christian School — have created five photo stand-in boards that are situated throughout the pumpkin patch. While these “put your face in the hole” boards make for fun photo-ops, corn maze organizers are also asking people to vote for their favorite board.

“Take a picture at your favorite photo stand-in board and share it on our Pine Creek Seed Farm Corn Maze Facebook page,” says corn maze organizer Jennifer McCracken. “We’ll be providing a prize for the students whose board receives the most posts.”

Special guest Matt Harrison brings his story-telling style music to the Pine Creek Seed Farm stage Saturday at 6 p.m.

It’s not until Sunday night during the final two hours from 6 to 8 p.m., that the terror begins. About 40 actors from the Spook Haven haunted attraction, based in Mill Hall, take over the maze for what promises to be the ultimate haunted maze experience of new scares, new paths and new horrors lurking around every corner!

This is the fourth year for the “Haunt the Maze” collaboration between the Pine Creek Corn Maze and Spook Haven, which continues to grow in popularity.

This Sunday’s haunt will be the first of two dates. Spook Haven actors will also haunt the maze from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 26, the final night of the corn maze’s 2025 season.

Thrill seekers should note there is a separate, special admission price for the haunted maze.

Regular admission to the Pine Creek Corn Maze is $10 per person.

Children age three and under are admitted free. For more information on the maze, visit www.pinecreekcornmaze.com or check out Pine Creek Seed Farm Corn Maze on Facebook.
